The Greater Accra regional Executives of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) has debunked claims that its members orchestrated an attack on the home of Nana Akufo-Addo.
In a statement read on behalf of the regional Chairman of the party, Ade Coker the party said they have evidence to prove that some NPP members launched the attack on NDC supporters.
According to initial reports, chaos erupted at the Nima residence of the NPP leader on Sunday morning after some participants of an NDC Health Walk allegedly pelted the house with stones and broken bottles.
The situation, escalated when the NDC supporters began defacing posters of Nana Akufo Addo, and the security men at the residence fired warning shots in the ensuing chaos.
According to them, it was the only way they could protect the property and lives of people in it the house because the police looked on while the items were pelted at the house.
But the NDC say they have presented photographs that prove that the attack was launched by some gun-wielding NPP supporters who were at the Flagbearer’s residence.
They said members of the NDC in the Greater Accra region have been attacked by the NPP supporters on countless occasions and they will not tolerate it anymore.
“We will therefore not take any foolishness of the NPP anymore in this region from henceforth and we are sending this strong signal to the NPP to caution their hooligans to refrain from any more attacks on our members,” the statement read.
They called on the Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor and the National Security Coordinator to step up their game and “protect the nation from nation wreckers.”
