Coach Tony Lokko, the assistant coach for Inter Allies has shared that he agrees with the decision by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to cancel the 2019/2020 football season.
The Ghana Premier League, the National Division One League, as well as the Women’s Premier League have been on hold for the past 3 months as a result of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis.
At the end of an Executive Committee meeting yesterday, the Ghana FA announced that it has decided to cancel the football season.
Sharing his thoughts on the decision, Coach Tony Lokko has welcomed the news as he notes that it should have been decided a long time ago.
“I think it is welcomed and long overdue. We expected it because when the game went for a break we all saw that the virus was not making it possible for us to resume.
“Looking at the situation at hand, even if we are to resume the preparation towards the game will take a longer time so I think it is a good idea from the Ghana FA to cancel the league for now and prepare for a better calendar” Coach Lokko said in an interview Bryt FM
The Inter Allies gaffer continued, “In fact, we are all happy it has come that way though the FA may be losing certain things but technically it is welcoming news for the coaches I believe” he said.
Meanwhile, the Ghana FA is set to begin arrangements next week ahead of the next season which is expected to be synchronized with the European calendar.s
