A 40-year-old Cobbler has been put before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly abducting and impregnating a 14 year old girl at Teshie, Accra.
Annang Harrison charged with Abduction and Defilement pleaded not guilty.
The court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh remanded Harrison into Police custody to reappear on November 28.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Agnes Boafo told the court that the complainant was the victim’s mother and the victim was a form one Junior High School student.
ASP Boafo said the complainant, the victim and Harrison reside at Teshie. During the month of September, this year, the complainant sent the victim to go to Teshie Camp Two and collect money from her sister but the victim did not return home.
Prosecution said efforts to trace the victim had proved futile.
However, the prosecutor said on November 9, this year, the complainant had information that the victim was residing with Harrison at Teshie Adoem.
ASP Boafo said on hearing that, the complainant proceeded to the accused person’s house but did not see the accused and the victim but saw the victim’s dress in front of Harrison’s door.
Prosecution said the complainant went to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit to report it and accused was arrested.
Later when the victim resurfaced, she told the complainant that Harrison had met her and asked that she purchase satchet water for him.
However when she brought the water, Harrison informed her to bring the water his room and locked her up for two weeks.
According to the prosecution the victim said when the accused allowed her to come out, she was afraid to go home so she stayed in Harrison’s room.
The prosecution said the victim came out of the accused person’s room after she heard that he had been arrested.
Prosecution said the victim revealed that Harrison had sex with her twice during her stay.
ASP Boafo said the Police therefore issued the victim with a medical form to seek medical care.
Prosecution said the medical report indicate that the victim is pregnant.
